Deepali selected for Sheffield Meet Market
It is an honour to have Deepali selected to the Meet Market at Sheffield Doc/Fest. Sheffield Doc/Fest is one of the world’s leading documentary festivals, and is well-known for its ability to connect production companies with distributors, forming new collaborations, making it possible for the world to enjoy documentaries from around planet. So we are very excited to get the opportunity to have our film distributed to a broader audience.
“It may be a timely film, but it is its timelessness, as well as its depths of compassion, that qualify it as a great one.”
Deepali is about how a group of young women in India, 1967, fought for their right to climb a Himalayan mountain. In the documentary the women tells about how it contributed to women’s rights in India, while we follow them on one last expedition in the Himalayas fifty years after their first climb, where they want to pay their respect to friends lost in the mountains.
