Director Ida Grøn has always been close to her grand parents, but something appears to indicate that her grandfather, Otto, wasn’t just the respected dentist and resistance fighter, as she thought he was. It seems to show that during The Cold War he worked as an agent for the CIA in a secret, European network. Otto denies everything – but then why did he sleep with a gun underneath his pillow, and why can Otto and his wife, Dagmar, not seem to remember paramount details about their residence in the USA in the 1950’s, where they left their otherwise thriving dentist business in Denmark?
As Ida speaks to those, who have known her grandfather, the many clues paint a different picture than the one her grandfather told her. A family story about loyalty and double life that takes us from the coasts of North West Jutland to high-tech laboratories and secret archives, while Ida and her father unravel the truth about their grandfather’s secret war.
